Values: Value your values

Shoulda, coulda, woulda, no more!

We’re familiar with the idiom about how we might’ve had, done, or been.

Enough is enough.

It is time to value your values. It’s time to build your self-awareness and accentuate the positive of who you are.

As Dr. Demartini states in his book “The Values Factor,” “Know yourself and your highest values; live authentically based on those values; and love yourself for being a unique creature unlike any other in the universe.” (Martini, 2013)

You are wonderfully made. … I am wonderfully made. Yet, we are different in as many ways as we are alike. And that is okay!

What you value may look like what I value, but your reasons and mine are, more likely than not, from a different perception. As you look to discover your highest values, ignore the temptation to look at others.

We are inundated with influences that cause us to compare ourselves to others. It is also a natural (albeit animalistic) presence of mind.

Remove the distraction and find time in a quiet, secluded room to spend 30 minutes or more and lay out what matters most.

Move beyond the fleeting desire for comforts and expectations for the value (or values) that at your core, in your gut, make you… you.

Write them down. Adjust them as you need to, as life changes, but do not compromise them. You’ve had a life of compromising your values, and undoubtedly that has resulted in mediocrity at best and self-defeating thoughts at worst.

Today, decide to rearrange your life to live out your values.

And let your life speak for what matters most to you.
